I've learned my basics, but my lightshows still don't look 'AWESOME' - Consider new LED Bulbs

Basic LED lights with stock bulbs can have some cool effects, but the really cool effects come from custom LEDs. Be aware that my experience with these lights is in inova microlights. I'm waiting to get a LED to modify a photon freedom, but I don't expect much.

Let's talk about the different types of LEDs:

- Dotz (Strobe) : The light above is the PWG (purple white green) strobe LED. These can be purchased for $4.50 on light zombies. These produce a very cool effect. When stationary they put out a whitish glow (mix of colors) and stutter a little bit. When they move they create triplets of dots in 3 colors, then repeat.

- Faders (tri color) : These lights fade in between 3 colors and both high and low power modes. This means the light will fade from color 1 solid, to color 1 dots (slowing down), then will change to color 2 dots, color 2 solid, color 2 dots, color 3 dots, color 3 solid, color 3 dots, back to color 1 dots, repeat. Coupled with the strobe these create an awesome effect. If you can time the lights correctly you can create different effects with the same lights.

- Ribbon (tri color) : The tri-color ribbon remains solid, but cycles through 3 colors. This creates a ribbon effect, (like the strobe, but all the colors are connected)

It is important to pick good LEDs if you really want the WOW effect. These lights bring a whole new level to your standard light shows. They look absolutely incredible, and will get wows almost wherever you go (if you're remotely decent).

BE WARNED: Red Inovas have a problem using many LED bulbs that output more power than the standard red LED. I don't see a problem with this, because RED stands out against the rest of my lights.

Choose wisely!

It is amazing what colour variation and effects that these LED's can give. Up to now I've only been expert in the standard energy saving LED's.
