Pick Up Artists: Why The Mystery Method is a Good Book In Moderation
79
So, you've had a bit of a dip with women, and you're looking for a way to get out of that dip. You started off reading 'The Game' by Neil Strauss (Style), and thought it might be a good idea to pick up Mystery's book. First, you wanted to do some research, and now you're here.
I'm going to talk about the Mystery's book subjectively. I have read it, and used it with some success. Does it work? You bet your ass it does, on some women! Are they the type of women you want to spend the rest of your life with? Probably not.
Keep this in mind when reading the book. This will get you out of your slump, but it will not bring you happiness. It may be a good step towards it, though.

Why the Book is Good
The most important aspect of the book is that it teaches confidence. It may not seem like it at first, in fact it will tell you to get rejected many times so you realize rejection means nothing. This may seem like an exercise in futility, but it's actually a good lesson. Many guys out there take rejection WAY too seriously. They have what the book describes as 'oneitis' (she's the only one for me). If you have 'oneitis' and you are not in a relationship YOU HAVE A PROBLEM! Ask any guy, if you're obsessed with a chick and you are not dating her, you never will (unless they're very odd circumstances). Women can pick up on this thing like men pick up on nearby cleavage, and it turns them off.
The book will teach you about how women think (which also adds to your confidence). It will teach you how to approach a woman under the radar and move your way into seducing her. Keep in mind what I said above though, this is usually only with certain women. Many women will not fall for it.
I have found these educational tidbits very useful, and intriguing! It is very interesting to learn how someone (who is very experienced in that field of knowledge) thinks about this subject. For the most part I'd say it's true.
Cons: Don't Let the Book Change You
Like I said the book is great for information, and for getting yourself out of an 'AFC' slump. Be cautioned though, everything has two sides.
While the book is great at boosting your confidence you should not shape your life after the book. The basic concepts are good to learn, and very helpful, but living your life like this is just not a good idea. It's better to boost your confidence, get a lay (or close) when you need one, then move on to better women. Yes, I said it, better women. Not all women are on the same level. The women you will be picking up using these methods will not be the type of women you want to take home to mama.
The biggest warning I would give to anybody reading these books is this. DO NOT LET THEM CHANGE WHO YOU ARE. You don't have to be Mystery, in fact if you try to be Mystery you will turn out to just be a total tool. I have seen a couple good friends read these books and turn into assholes, trying to talk down to their friends (to raise themselves) and talking shit whenever possible. Realize that a true alpha male tries to better their pack as a whole. The more you talk shit about your friends, the worse you look.
This book offers good assistance to AFCs (average frustrated chumps) but don't let that change you. Apply the knowledge gained from this book to who you are. Use it to your advantage. Realize that the more you can apply the knowledge TO YOURSELF (not apply yourself to this knowledge) the better off you'll do.
I'd also have to say, don't try to pick up other guy's girlfriends. It's not worth the drama, and the possibility of a beat down.
When you are satisfied, use the confidence gained from these books to go after better women, ones that you can respect. A long term relationship (LTR) with a woman you resepect will lead to more happiness later in life. Plus, you never have to be an AFC again.
Is the book good? Yes! Yes it is! If you are having women troubles it is a GREAT book!
Enjoy it, don't abuse it, and DON'T let it define you.
